Dutch Brownies

A recipe for classic brownies using Dutch cocoa.

Try these soft, delicious brownies made with authentic Dutch cocoa.

Ingredients

1 ½ Cup

 Sugar

1 Cup

 Butter (softened)

1 Cup

 Dutch Cocoa

¾ Teaspoon

 Baking Powder

1 Cup

 All-Purpose Flour

2 Teaspoons

 Vanilla Extract

4

 Eggs

½ Teaspoon

 Salt

1 Cup

 Walnuts, chopped (optional)

1 Cup

Frosting (optional)

Directions

1) Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Oil or spray a 9-inch baking pan, then cover with parchment paper and lightly oil or spray the paper.

2) Beat together sugar and butter until fluffy.

3) Beat in one egg at a time until fully incorporated. Add the vanilla extract and continue beating, making sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl and get everything.

4) In another bowl, whisk the cocoa, baking powder, salt and flower together. Add it slowly into the first mixture and stir to combine. Add in the walnuts if using them and mix together.

5) Pour and spread the batter into the pan. Bake on a middle rack for between 25 to 30 minutes. Use a fork or toothpick to determine doneness – if it pulls out clean, they’re ready!

6) Once the brownies have cooled, spread any desired frosting over top and enjoy!

You can also try dusting with icing sugar, or adding other fillings than walnuts.
