Description

Mix for Dutch Kruidnoten (gingerbread spice cookies).

Directions:

  • Pre-heat the oven to 350°  Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Pour 1 package Koopmans Kruidnoten Mix into a bowl, and add 2 tablespoons water. Use 1 package per baking sheet.
  • Mix with a spoon, and knead by hand until a dough forms.
  • Dust the counter with flour, and roll the dough out to about 40cm.
  • Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces of 5cm, then roll out a bit more to 8 pieces of 7cm.
  • Cut each roll into 7 equal pieces of 1cm and form into small balls.
  • Place the balls on the baking sheet in 8 rolls of 7. Make sure the balls are evenly placed across the baking sheet.
  • Bake the kruidnoten in the middle of the oven 10 minutes. Watch that the bottom of the kruidnoten don't get too brown.
  • Remove from oven, and remove the parchment paper from the baking sheet. Allow the kruidnoten to cool.

Tips:

  • The dough can be made in advance (not longer than 1 day). Store in the refrigerator and knead before using.
  • Want chocolate kruidnoten? Dip cooled kruidnoten into a cup of melted chocolate glaze.
  • Remove with a fork, allowing the excess chocolate to run off.
  • Allow chocolate to harden on parchment paper.
